Hello, London!

We have been here for just about a week now and did we ever hit the ground running!

Our flight from Bangkok was pretty standard – little sleep, dehydration, and stiff limbs. Luckily there wasn’t much turbulance which my anxious mind was quite grateful for!

Our first stop after meeting Sarah was a local pub to watch the rest of the All Blacks vs Ireland game. Even though we had all our bags and it was 9:30 in the morning, (with a little encouragement from Sarah) we decided to celebrate being finished with our SEA trip with a Crabbie’s Ginger Beer. Pretty sure it’s my new favourite drink.

We arrived first thing Saturday morning so the rest of the weekend filled up with shopping for work/interview clothes, going to a delicious Mexican restaurant with Sarah, meeting up with Cath, Jono, Craig, and Gerrie, shopping some more, a little sight seeing, and lots of cider.

Monday and Tuesday were full of meetings and interviews for the two of us. Most were with recruiters but only one each for actual roles.

The job search has slowed down a little bit now that I was OFFERED THE ROLE! While it’s not my ideal role or in an ideal location, it’s very close to what I want to be doing and I’m very grateful they decided to take a chance on me despite having no UK experience.

So it looks like I’ll be Matt’s sugar momma for the next little while until he finds his own job! I’ll be milking it for all it’s worth too – I expect dinner and a glass of wine waiting for me when I get home from work, honey! 😛

To wrap up the week, Cath got us all tickets to be in the Graham Norton Show audience. We had a bit of an adventure getting our tickets. We weren’t sure if the small line outside was for the show or a different one so we walked into the building and found ourselves backstage in the studio next to the big red chair. A guy noticed us looking a bit lost and asked if he could help. As he was directing us to someone who could help, he kept asking how we got in there. This question continued to be asked (even by security) and all we could do was look at them like deer in headlights. How did we get in? We just strolled through the door!

It was definitely a cool experience getting to see how it all works behind the scenes. His guests were Danny Devito, Charlotte Church, and a comedian whose name I can’t remember. It’ll be interesting to see which bits they edit out cause Danny Devito can sure ramble and say some filthy things! Fun. was the musical guest and they played their song We Are Young. I was pretty excited cause I love the song, but also cause I knew how jealous Courtney would be (love you, sis!).

After the taping, we grabbed some dinner and made it to the theatre in time to enjoy Josie’s birthday present to Matt – tickets to see the musical, Wicked! I must admit, I wasn’t sure if I would like it cause I’ve never been to a musical before but it was SO GOOD. The actress who played the Wicked Witch had one of the most incredible voices I’ve ever heard. Definitely got me interested in seeing other musicals so thanks Josie!

Most of you know that I wasn’t really excited by the idea of moving to London for whatever reason. Maybe travelling through Asia on the way here was a good way to transition but I am absolutely loving it here so far! Definitely looking forward to setting up here for a while.
